Waves, Sound, and Light

This program is offered in both formats:  in person and online streaming performances.

Waves, Sound, and Light Show

In this show we use a Wave Machine, Pendulum Waves, Laser Eye Simulation, a Mechanical Ear and lots of student participation to show how waves travel. We show the difference between Transverse Waves and Longitudinal Waves. How Sound Waves travel through the ear. How Light Waves travel though the eye. How Sound Waves differ from Electromagnetic Waves. We end the show with illuminated waves and a mini laser display that show how both sound and light interact.

A great follow up to the live in person show is the:

Sound Workshop – The Science of Sound.

Sound Workshop

Available in-person live only

What is Sound?  How do we hear?  What is pitch?  In this workshop we use lots of fun activities to show the science behind sound.  Students make their own model ear drums, experiment with how sound travels, and build lots of devices that generate sound in different ways.  This workshop definitely turns up the volume on science.
